ALTERED BOOK WORKSHOP:

What is an altered book?  The altered book is an art form in which artists recycle or transform existing books into new works of art, using numerous collage techniques.  This workshop will cover an introduction to collage techniques using an old hardcover book to alter, using embellishments, such as beads, metal letters, photocopies, photos, journaling, fiber, etc.

Here are some examples of altered book pages.  In the workshop collage techniques will be discussed and specific altered book components will be explored such as preparing your altered book for inclusion of embellishments, windows and shadow boxes.
