What is an altered book? The altered book is an art form in which artists recycle or transform existing books into new works of art, using numerous collage techniques. This workshop will cover an introduction to collage techniques using an old hardcover book to alter, using embellishments, such as beads, metal letters, photocopies, photos, journaling, fiber, etc.
Workshop includes the following supplies:
•Hard cover books to choose from – if you have a special book you want to use please bring it.
•Glue and collage materials, such as paper, fiber, fabric, embellishments
•A variety of paints with brushes
Supplies to be brought with you:
•Special photocopies, photos (please photocopy originals if you do not want to use originals in your work), other personal mementos such as letters, embellishments and other found objects that are special to you
•Your own paints if you have a special colour you want to use in your work
•Your own paper if you have something special to include in your work
Workshop will be held at Supria’s Designs Studio in Fergus.
